still not in cairns!

several people have requested that i update my blog more often. i really haven't done much since the last one since i've been working in sydney. but i got a few things i can throw up here. i leave tomorrow for a couple hour flight to cairns. then i fly south after a few days of diving. of course, i seemed to have misplaced my diving padi card. doh!! we'll see if they let me dive anyway. i have flights to return me to sydney for the last week of my trip, but i'm going to ditch those and take a bus to hit all the small towns. smaller towns & nature hikes are way more fun.

so this pic was in the blue mountains. this band was super fun. check out what the lead singer has in his hand....

and this chick had no idea where Mr Crabs has been!

in the blue mountains, we hitch hiked to some cool hiking trails. Mr Crabs is hitchhiking too. see his claw raise a bit? i'm surprised he didn't get run over... most people don't look for crabs in the street when driving in the mountains....

this was another really cool hike where you scale the wall of the cliff. i don't know how many stairs i've climbed during my blue mountain stay, but it's several thousand....

this german dude took the crab a bit too seriously. i mean, using an SLR to take his picture? overkill.

"sweet nectar of gods! mana from heaven!!!!!"

Mr Crabs (in left hand) accompanied me to the shark tank. this was really freakin cool. the sharks get so close to you. as in, 4-5 inches. you can see their nasty little beedy eyes. no cage. no protection. and since i dove on a sunday, that means that was the longest time they had gone w/o eating. (they eat MWF.) the scary thing is that they swim right behind you without you knowing. they don't seem to make a lot of noise. i turned around once and the dude was like a foot away from me swimming towards me. Mr Crabs almost shit in his little plastic water bag.... he's so brave w/ kangaroos & random chicks, but when it gets down to it, he's no more human than the rest of us.

off to cairns tomorrow!!! send me emails or comment on the blog! i love hearing from you all! and if you don't have a blog account, you can still leave a comment by selecting "other" and entering a cute little name. you know, like "wyld stallions", etc... :)

see you all soon! wait, maybe not that soon. :) and go support my dodge ball team this thursday!!!!

Well finally got to catch up on the blog- very entertaining and the pics are a plus. The bridge is pretty amazing & the climb across sounds a wee bit scary. The water looks so very blue~ like cobalt~ is it really that color? The cavern crystal tour sounds like a blast and something I would really like to see in person (especially after seeing your pictures). Were you able to stand upright for the whole tour through or were you required to crawl in spots? Was it very cold under the earth?
wentworth falls looks so peaceful and tranquil- and does resemble lord of the rings terrain.. the mist in the pic gives an eerie quality to the photo and this is by far my favorite of all I have seen.
The shark is down right frightning freeman-- you've got big chutzpah! Wouldn't catch me anywhere near those buggers-- especially if I knew they hadn't eaten in awhile :)
Looks like you found some beauty in the blue mountains, what an amazing climb....
Figure you would find time to catch a local band and party awhile...
trip looks like it is a lot of fun dude, and the pics are great.... thanx for the postings and will walk on down to cheer dodgeball team for you Thursday~~~
Have fun diving & keep posting. It is fun to live your trip with you... makes me actually want to brave a 22 hour cramped flight just to see some of these sights...

thanks kittee! and the flight was but a short 15 hour flight! i'm going to go to bed early tonight (midnight) so that i can be up & ready to rock for my 7:45am departure to the great barrier reef. 3 days/2 nights. the boat is basically a cruise liner w/ bar, prepared meals, spa, etc.... prolly no internet, though. :) so ya'll are gonna have to wait 'til then. i'm currently sitting in some hotel stealing their bandwidth. when i'm done w/ this, i'm going to play their piano. (poorly, i might add. so out of practice and i ain't got no sheet music.) i actually played one while in the blue mountains and i got a bunch of people in the cafe standing around applauding. who'd of thought?

cairns rules!!!! i wish i was here longer....

YO you,,, I got screwed on a dive in Maui when I forgot my card. If you call PADI they will fax a copy to the dive place... I've never had them let me on the boat without the card,,, make the call...

Glad you and Mr Crabs made it through the shark dive -- sweet pictures so far! You're hilarious... hike looks awesome, band looks fun, hitch-hiking always an adventure, but the shark looks damn scary! With any luck, you haven't been swallowed up by the reef yet... ;)
