Later Loser!
Here's me partying hard in koh phi phi. Well, actually, I wasn't really, but it made for a fun picture. Andy & I were still terrified of drinking more buckets.

This picture is primarily here to make my friend forest jealous. He was supposed to meet me in thailand but had to cancel. So, ummm..... look forest, a climbing wall! I ended up leading a few routes with a fellow koh phi phi snorkeler (jennica). I really couldn't stomach hauling my climbing gear all around asia and not go climbing. Forest, the climbing was epic, I tell ya!!! epic!!!

leaving railay... there apparently isn't the concept of a “pier” here, so we had to wade out a few hundred yards barefoot trying to ignore the rocky bottom and our heavy packs. what's worse is that i have issues with "looking homeless" which is exactly what we all looked like wading through muddy waters carrying all of crap. it was a blow to my ego for sure.

While on koh lak, jennica & I rented a motorbike. The first chance she had to ride the bike resulted in her saying, “later loser!” and she took off without me. a few minutes later, she realized that i had all of our stuff in my bag, so she was forced to return. chicks!?!?!

(Oh, there's perhaps about only 15% truth in the above story.) here we are doing a fun little hike to a waterfall.

Notice all the funky cups on the side of the trees. They are collecting stuff for rubber. Is that really where all of the worlds rubber comes from? Trees with cups? Seriously?

Now jennica-less, I went on a fishing trip. Here's me after my first catch.

a little tiny tuna, i think.

While the crew cooked our fish, we went snorkeling. Here's a pretty big freakin' eel. Nasty!

I didn't catch this one, but it didn't stop me from posing with him.

How jacked up is this? thais drive on the left side, right? Well, yes, mostly. While I rented a motorbike, I discovered a handful of streets that drive on the right side of the road. Soooo messed up!

If you are thai, park entry is 20 bhat. Otherwise, 200 bhat.

Alas, the waterfall was 180 bhat-better for me than the thais that were there.

On the way back, I see that someone forgot what side of the street to drive on. As if I needed another reason to say, “no, I don't want a tuk tuk!”

my last bar night was pretty mellow. Only 3 beers. And none of those evil buckets.

Since I can't write a word of thai, I probably shouldn't poke fun of their written english. But i'm going to anyway. (click on the picture for a better view.)

now for some random videos. it's totally understandable that the average american doesn't know exactly that the VP's duties are, but if you are running for that office and you've been asked this question before publicly, shouldn't you get it right the second time around? the VP only casts a vote in the senate in case of a tie and they don't make policy... someone correct me if i'm wrong...
if you are looking for a reason to not vote obama, here's a few ideas...
And while fox news is the only network to have mccain ahead of obama in the electoral college, the rest of the world does not. The funny part is that fox has mccain ahead in indiana instead of “up for grabs” despite obama being ahead in the polls in that state. Maybe papa-bear has some secret data...
Anyway, today I am taking a long ass bus ride to bangkok and then I fly home 12 hours later. I get home sometime around 11:45 pm on october 28th! Thanks for reading and I can't wait to see everyone!
Kop kam krah! Kop Chi La La! Aww Koom! Caam un!

Freeman gains new respect for prostitutes!
The day after I went diving in koh tao, I rented a motorbike and checked out the island. Here's one of the few hikes available.
Here's the sight of the “freeman hair massacre”. I figured that asking them to use the clippers on my hair would be fairly safe. A local recommended that I not get my haircut on the island and I should have listened. NO, you don't get a picture of it! Basically, she took a razor and was trying to shave above my ears and went to high. I felt like forest gump. Then she shaved my face (which seemed like a good idea) and cut me four times. “Welcome to Koh Tao. Have a nice day!”
back on the motorbike, I was looking for a spot called “golden view”. I'm a sucker for views and with the name “golden”, it has to be good. I apparently took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up at their landfill.
This picture doesn't do the roads justice, but I really needed a dirt bike and not a little scooter. Other people took ATVs up the hill. I made it up to “golden view” without incident only to find that it was a restaurant that was closed. And they wanted 50 baht to see the view! Ain't no way i'm spending $1.66 on something that should be free. So I left, pictureless. Unfortunately, on the way down the steep ass hill, I crashed. And when I say “crash”, I mean the front tire slipped on a rock going 1 mph and I had to jump off the bike. One tiny little cut. BUT, the place keeps their bikes in brand new condition and I had to pay $150 to replace the parts that were scratched. Mediocre dives, butcher stylists, no-so-golden views and a motorbike mishap, this island wasn't speaking to me. Best move on before something really bad happens!
On koh phagnan, I played some pool w/ a local and an irish chick. Later, the local offered up her services. I told her that I like men.
On this island, they have a world famous “full moon party”. Here's a pre-party picture taken days before.
The next night, I ventured out to a different bar so I don't have to tell that girl i'm gay again. This chick kicked my ass at connect-4 several times. Anyway, we were laugh & having a good time when the bartender came up to me and said, “you know, she'll go home with you tonight, but you have to pay the bar for her.” thanks, but no thanks, pimp daddy. But hey, the girl could play connect-4.
I spent the day of the full moon party relaxing in a hammock & reading. This is a view from my room.
Early on at the party. Essentially, it's 12 or so bars serving cheap alcohol on the beach. The beach later on filled up. This month was smaller, but the previous month had around 20,000 people.
Lots of alcohol. Lots.
Here's me jumping rope which happens to be on fire.
And you gotta love boxing on a pole! We both got one punch in before we fell off. Yes, I won. I went undefeated the whole night.
After a couple boats & buses, I arrive at koh phi phi. This is the place that was hit hardest by the tsunami. Basically, that whole town was destroyed.

On the way to koh phi phi, I met some super fun ozzies. Here's us having a few beers with dinner along with some english chicks i met on the street.

The results of those strong buckets were an inability to sit on the chair. In their defense, the chairs weren't entirely stable to begin with... and the buckets were really strong...

here's an action shot of one of the buckets.

Our hotel was on the other side of the island. We walked through the jungle to get to town and the ozzies wisely took a boat back after drinking. I figured I could make it back (in the dark through the jungle), so I stuck around with the english chicks. After I tried to walk away from the bar and realized I was having trouble even finding where the path through the jungle started, I reconsidered. I ended up sleeping on the floor at the english chick's place. That tile floor was mighty comfy!

Here's me after a 2 hour hike back the next day. I got home @ noon.

man vs beast... (this was on a tour of the islands around koh phi phi)

this is so not what you think it is...

lunch break with my fellow snorkelers.

i didn't take nearly enough nature pictures during our snorkel tour, but it's really pretty out here!

this video has nothing to do with anything other than i find it amusing and i have no palin jokes left for you:
having a great time out here. i'll probably be in koh phi phi for another day or two before i head out to some other island. railay, perhaps.

angkor what?!
Angkor wat at dusk. Now really appreciate this picture because I biked my ass home in the dark for this shot!

Art on the walls.... one has to ask, where is her left hand and what is it doing?

within the angkor wat complex...

these monkeys were a little eerie. One charged me and growled a bit. This one just tried to steal my hat.

Holy cow! saw this guy when we watched the sunset from one of the temples.

And you thought the democrats had money issues... look at the size of the people's party headquarters!

in temples around ankor wat, the buildings haven't been completely restored, so you can see jungle life growing on the building itself.

Back in thailand, I found it nice to be reminded what to do in the bathroom.

Some dudes I met on kho san road (bangkok)

we finished 3 of these.

In what can only be described as a crime against humanity, a shopping mall in bangkok shows movie previews right out in the open! wtf!??!! I had to close my eyes and ears to get this picture. even though the previews were in thai, i can never be too safe.

I, uh, am drawing a blank on what to write here. Seems like a great opportunity for a Sarah Palin remark, but I got nothing.

Went diving at the island of kho tao (where I am now). I didn't get any dive shots b/c we went too deep for my camera (30 meters). I took this shot while free swimming. The prop is actually spinning in this shot! seems safe, no?

Kho tao

kho tao at night!

I only have 2+ weeks left of traveling! Life is so unfair to me! :(
